Ingredients: (per tablet)
- Ferrous fumarate (Equiv. Iron 20mg) 61mg
- Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) 50mg
- Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) 50mcg
- Folic acid 300mcg
Formulated without:
Gluten, egg, dairy, soy, wheat, artificial flavours, artificial sweeteners or artificial colours.
Key Ingredients:
Ferrous fumarate (Iron)
- Easily absorbable form of iron
- Raw material is coated to reduce iron (metallic) taste
- Iron is a key component of heamoglobin which is the oxygen carrying pigment in red blood cells
- Also involved in oxygen storage in the muscles
- Oxygen is essential for all cells for the production of cellular energy
- Essential for the proliferation of all cells especially the red blood and immune cells
Vitamin C:
- Facilitates iron absorption by forming soluble complexes to assist in normalising iron levels
- Provides important biological antioxidant protection against free radical damage
- The human body cannot produce Vitamin C within our bodies
- Supports folic acid utilisation in the body
Vitamin B12:
- Essential for the normal function of all cells - cell growth and replication, metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and protein
- Involved in the production of red blood cells in bone marrow - deficiency can lead to pernicious anaemia resulting in small red blood cells
- Supports healthy brain function - may improve cognitive function and sleep wake patterns
- Combined with folic acid and B6 may support cardiovascular health and protection
- Vegans and vegetarians should be taking about 2,500mg of Vitamin B12 weekly to meet recommended requirements as plant products have lower levels of B12 than animal products
Folic Acid:
- Essential for healthy cell division due to its function in the metabolism of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA)
- Activates Vitamin B12
- Deficiency can be associated with large unstable RBC (macrocytic amaemia)
- Greater demands during pregnancy - Oral contraceptive pill can deplete levels
- Supports nervous system and brain function
- Folate status may have chemopreventative role
What are the Contraindications/Interactions of Iron Chews™?
Caution:
It is recommended to take Iron Chews™ away from other medications and supplements (except vitamin C). Do not take with haemochromatosis or iron overload.
What is the Dosage Recommendation for Iron Chews™?
Adults and Children (Over 3 years):
Take 1 tablet daily or as advised by your medical professional. Take at different times to other supplements except Vitamin C.
